King Charles has received yet another worrying update at a time when he has been working tirelessly to restore stability and unity within the royal family. While some recent developments had offered a rare moment of relief, that calm may prove short-lived.
Sarah Ferguson, mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, has spent recent months keeping a deliberately low profile, stepping back from the media glare that has long followed her. For the royals, that quiet has been welcome news. But questions are now swirling about how long it will last, and those close to the situation are bracing for what could come next.
Amid persistent reports about financial difficulties, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested that Fergie may be edging ever closer to signing a deal for a tell-all interview, particularly in the aftermath of the ongoing Epstein controversy, which has already cast a long shadow over the House of Windsor.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Fitzwilliams did not mince his words. “Since, to our knowledge, she has no sources of income, this or something like this [a TV interview] is a real possibility,” he said, warning that a major television deal could well be in the offing.

He went further, adding that the appeal of such an interview would not be limited to mainstream broadcasters. “It is possible that one of the major TV stations could make her an offer,” he noted. “[But] Sarah Ferguson could [also] use a little-known outlet and the interest would be enormous.” The implication was clear: wherever she chose to speak, the world would be watching and listening.
Fitzwilliams did not shy away from the personal dimension either, acknowledging that Ferguson’s restraint, however uncharacteristic, has so far served both the monarchy and her own daughters well. Her continued silence, he argued, is not only helping to protect King Charles from further embarrassment, but could also open doors to a more prominent and respected royal future for Beatrice and Eugenie.
The commentator suggested that if Fergie had any interest in leaving a dignified legacy, keeping quiet would be the wisest course of action for her daughters’ sake, if nothing else. But he remained deeply unconvinced that she would take that path.
“If only she could be quiet, but it isn’t her style,” he said bluntly before delivering his starkest warning yet: “Prepare to be appalled!” For a royal family still navigating one of its most turbulent periods in recent memory, Fitzwilliams’ words may prove harder to shake than anyone at the palace would like.
