Bill Maher has responded to US President Donald Trump after the latter called the HBO host a “complete and total loser” in a lengthy post on Truth Social.
However, Maher’s comeback also brought Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and his wife, Taylor Swift, into the exchange.
The dispute followed a dinner attended by Maher, Trump and sports commentator Stephen A. Smith.
The meeting apparently prompted Trump to publish a 1,300-word rant about the Real Time host, in which he criticised Maher and described him as a “complete and total loser”.
During a recent episode of Real Time, Maher addressed Trump’s comments in a monologue lasting more than four minutes.
One part of his response featured a comparison involving Swift, who is married to Kelce.
“Did you see the 1,300-word tweet he sent out? Longest ever. Kind of a flex. Eating with Trump is like dating Taylor Swift,” Maher said.
He continued, “It’s a lot of laughs at the time, but later on, they’re tearing you a new a______.”
