Reality TV personalities Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor were expected to finalize their divorce on Monday, July 21—but as it turns out, the couple is still legally married. The Valley alum cleared up the confusion during her recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, revealing the paperwork delays that have stalled the process.
Brittany Cartwright, 36, responded to host Andy Cohen on the Tuesday, July 22 episode, after he referenced a prior statement from Taylor, 46, who had claimed their divorce would be finalized on July 21, according to US Weekly. “He [Taylor] said your divorce was set to be finalized July 21st, which was yesterday,” Cohen noted in a clip that has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter). “Are you now officially divorced?”
Cartwright replied bluntly, “Unfortunately, no.” The news surprised Cohen, prompting Cartwright to explain the reason behind the delay. “We both, like, didn’t send in all of our stuff at the right time,” she said. “It’s a lot of stuff that happens, so October 15 is the new date, and it’s going to happen.”
Cartwright also provided some insight into her current relationship with Taylor, making it clear that the split is not just legal but deeply personal. “Horrible,” she described the state of their relationship. “[There’s] no trust, whatsoever.”

The former Vanderpump Rules stars were married for approximately five years before filing for divorce earlier this year. Their wedding, widely publicized and followed by fans, marked one of the more high-profile relationships to emerge from the Bravo franchise. The couple also shares a four-year-old son named Cruz, whom both continue to co-parent amid the separation process.
While the finalization date has now been pushed to October 15, Cartwright’s comments suggest there is little hope for reconciliation. Her candor about the breakdown of trust and emotional strain signals that the delay is purely procedural and not indicative of second thoughts.
With legal proceedings still underway, Cartwright and Taylor remain in a state of limbo—publicly separated, but not yet divorced. Fans and followers of the pair will now have to wait until fall for official confirmation of what already seems emotionally settled.
