Cardi B Sued for Assault After Microphone Incident at Las Vegas Concert

Cardi B is facing a new legal battle after a former concertgoer filed a lawsuit accusing the rapper of assault, battery, and negligence during a 2023 performance in Las Vegas. The lawsuit, filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe in the Eighth Judicial Court in Clark County, Nevada, stems from an incident that occurred during Cardi’s headlining show at Drai’s Beachclub on July 29, 2023. People Magazine.

According to the legal documents obtained by People magazine, Doe alleges that the rapper caused her physical injury after throwing a microphone at her during the performance. Doe claims that during the show, held in extreme heat, Cardi B encouraged fans to “splash water on her” to help cool off. Responding to this request, Doe stated that she “splashed a small portion of her drink in Cardi B’s direction,” doing so “in a manner consistent with other attendees and in accordance with the environment.”

However, the lawsuit alleges that Cardi B reacted “in apparent anger and without warning,” throwing her microphone “suddenly and forcefully” at Doe. The microphone allegedly struck Doe directly, resulting in what she described as “offensive and unconsented physical contact,” as well as physical injury.

The lawsuit further states that Doe experienced “immediate apprehension of an imminent harmful contact,” followed by actual physical harm from being hit by the microphone. Doe contends that Cardi B should have recognized that throwing the microphone “presented a foreseeable risk of physical injury.”

Calling the act “unjustified and retaliatory,” Doe argues that the incident led to “severe emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injury.” She is suing Cardi B on multiple grounds, including assault, battery, and negligence. The filing marks yet another controversy in Cardi B’s high-profile career, as the Grammy-winning artist has occasionally faced legal and public scrutiny for her behavior at public events.

As of this writing, Cardi B has not publicly commented on the lawsuit or responded through legal counsel. The incident quickly went viral after the show, with video footage capturing the moment the microphone was thrown.

However, fans and onlookers have expressed mixed opinions about the context, with some defending Cardi’s reaction as a reflex under chaotic circumstances, while others condemned it as an overreaction. With legal proceedings underway, the court will now determine whether the rapper’s actions constituted excessive force or a reasonable reaction in a high-energy concert setting.
