Prince Harry Reportedly Blocks Meghan Markle’s Trip to Angola Over Safety Fears

Prince Harry made a surprise solo visit to Angola, drawing attention not only for his humanitarian work but also for the absence of his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Duke of Sussex arrived in the capital, Luanda, to support efforts in landmine removal—a cause close to his heart and previously championed by his late mother, Princess Diana.

According to reports, Harry launched straight into a packed itinerary of engagements, demonstrating his continued dedication to the cause. However, royal fans were quick to notice that Meghan and their children were not present during the high-profile trip.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, a source explained Harry’s reasoning for making the journey alone, pointing to ongoing concerns for his family’s safety. “The Duke won’t let his wife go to England over security concerns, so there was no chance he’d allow her to go to Angola to walk across landmines,” the insider stated.

This comment echoes Prince Harry’s past remarks on the matter. He has frequently voiced his apprehension about his family’s security while traveling, especially to the UK. In a previous BBC interview, he openly admitted his reluctance to bring Meghan and their children to England due to inadequate protection.

Despite the solo trip, Harry was warmly received in Angola. He joined meetings with local leaders and humanitarian organizations to strengthen efforts in demining—a mission that dates back to Princess Diana’s iconic walk through a minefield in Huambo in 1997.

The CEO of The HALO Trust, James Cowan, expressed appreciation for Harry’s involvement during the visit, which included an audience with President João Lourenço. “It was an honour to have an audience with His Excellency President Lourenço today alongside Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, to discuss HALO’s continued demining efforts in Angola,” Cowan said.

“We thanked him for his extraordinary dedication to and investment in the vision of a mine-free country, and he expressed his intention to continue to support our work with a further significant contract for the next three years.” He added, “Our partnership is strengthened and renewed, and we are grateful to President Lourenço for his leadership on this critical issue.”

Though Meghan did not accompany her husband, Prince Harry’s solo trip reinforced his commitment to humanitarian causes while highlighting the continued complexities surrounding the Sussex family’s security concerns abroad.
