Conan O’Brien and Ryan Reynolds are getting in on the Meghan Markle jam frenzy — and they’re doing it with a healthy dose of humor. The two stars took playful jabs at the Duchess of Sussex’s new $14 raspberry fruit spread during a recent episode of O’Brien’s popular podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.
The joke began when Reynolds reflected on his late father James Reynolds’ post-police career. “He got out of copping and then became a food broker, which we’re like, ‘Come on, that’s CIA, right?’” Reynolds said, joking about the mysterious nature of the job. “And he’s like, ‘No, really, I’m a middleman for jars of jam and tiny yogurt.’”

That’s when O’Brien seized the moment and cracked, “He works for Meghan Markle. Really tiny jams, harvestable jams, made from the oils of Montecito.”
The moment quickly spiraled into more playful banter, with Reynolds adding, “If Jimbo Reynolds wasn’t dead I would say he is Meghan Markle. Well, adjacent.” O’Brien laughed in agreement, saying, “Many people have likened the two.”

Reynolds kept the conversation light, steering clear of more sensitive topics, including recent headlines about his wife Blake Lively and her ex-co-star Justin Baldoni. Instead, the two comedians stuck to poking fun at the upscale jam business — one that Markle has surprisingly turned into a buzzy lifestyle venture.
Markle’s As Ever brand, launched in April, features a small-batch collection of artisanal products, including the now sold-out raspberry fruit spread. The jam quickly became a topic of internet chatter — and celebrity comedy — for its price, elegant presentation, and whimsical description.
“Where it all began – this signature As Ever raspberry fruit spread is inspired by the recipe Meghan crafted in her home kitchen,” reads the official product page. “This signature blend delicately mixes the sweetness of raspberries with a hint of lemon, and is crafted with a fluid texture so it can be drizzled, spread, poured and enjoyed for so much more than your morning toast.”

In true lifestyle brand fashion, Markle’s website even offers ways to repurpose the empty jar. “Repurpose the Keepsake Packaging as a charming home for your favorite trinkets or small treasures,” the site suggests.
Among the ideas for enjoying the jam: drizzling it over puff pastry with brie and thyme, spooning it onto crepes, or simply savoring it on toast.
This isn’t the first time Markle and her business venture have been the subject of celebrity mockery. Just days before O’Brien and Reynolds’ exchange, Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost joked during the “Weekend Update” segment that Britain’s only request in a new trade deal with the U.S. was “that we keep these two,” while showing a photo of Markle and Prince Harry.
With high-profile comedians now weighing in, it’s clear Meghan Markle’s jam is spreading — if not on toast, then definitely across pop culture.
