Angelina Jolie Selling Los Feliz Mansion She Bought to Co-Parent Near Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie is closing a chapter that once kept her tethered to Brad Pitt and she’s doing it right after he’s been hit with a devastating loss in his own family. According to Page Six, the Oscar-winning actress is preparing to sell her Los Feliz estate, a sprawling historic mansion she purchased in 2017 for a cool $24.5 million.

The move comes only a week after Pitt’s mother passed away at age 84. The property itself is a piece of Hollywood history. Built in 1913 and once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, the 11,000-square-foot home is as grand as it sounds.

It’s got six bedrooms, ten bathrooms, four fireplaces, a massive wine cellar, a serene tea house, manicured gardens, and a pool surrounded by cascading fountains, the kind of spot you could imagine in an old Hollywood movie. Angelina Jolie didn’t just buy it for the prestige, though.

In a 2021 British Vogue interview, she admitted one of her main reasons for choosing the home was that it was “five minutes away” from Pitt, making it easier for the former couple to co-parent their six kids. During the pandemic, she reportedly spent much of her time there with the children, and earlier this year, she even opened its doors to friends who had been displaced by California wildfires.

Now, with her and Brad Pitt’s divorce finalized months ago, putting the home on the market feels like a symbolic break from the past. It’s a quiet but telling move closing the door on a place that once represented a fragile connection during a very public and painful split.

That split, of course, was anything but smooth. The couple’s 2016 breakup spiraled into an eight-year legal battle over custody arrangements and dividing up their massive shared assets. While they reached a settlement last year, they’re still locked in a bitter dispute over Château Miraval, the $500 million French winery they once co-owned.

Selling the Los Feliz estate won’t solve that fight, but it does seem to underline the fact that Jolie is ready to fully move forward. For Pitt, the timing comes during what is already a deeply personal and emotional moment after losing his mother.

The mansion itself will no doubt attract serious interest from buyers. With its century-old charm, luxury amenities, and Hollywood history, it’s not the kind of property that sits on the market long. But for Jolie, letting it go is about more than just a real estate transaction; it’s a final goodbye to one of the last physical ties she kept to her life with Pitt.
