New York Teen Kills Another Teen in Stabbing at House Party

A Long Island teenager has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Liam Delemo during a chaotic house party that drew nearly 100 teenagers, Suffolk County police announced. Authorities said the suspect, whose name has not been released because he is a minor, allegedly stabbed Delemo during a violent scuffle on November 3 at a home in West Babylon.

The residence, owned by a 70-year-old grandmother, had been the site of an unsupervised gathering that spiraled out of control. “Between 90 and 100 teenagers were at a party outside the home at 813 Carlton Road on November 3 at approximately 10:25 p.m. when a fight broke out and Liam Delemo was stabbed,” police said in a statement Monday.

Delemo, a West Babylon resident, was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Following the deadly altercation, police arrested the homeowner, identified as Bonnie Miranda.

She has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and violating Suffolk County’s social host law, which prohibits adults from allowing underage drinking parties at their homes. Neighbors described scenes of panic and confusion as the fight erupted, sending dozens of teenagers fleeing through nearby yards and climbing fences to escape the chaos.

“It was out of control,” one local resident told reporters. “There were kids running everywhere.” Investigators said the suspect will face a second-degree murder charge and was scheduled for arraignment on Monday. Because the alleged attacker is under 18, his name and additional identifying details have not been made public.

Police are continuing to investigate what led to the deadly confrontation, including whether alcohol or other factors played a role in the incident. Detectives are reviewing witness statements and social media posts shared by partygoers on the night of the stabbing.

The tragic death has left the West Babylon community in shock. Friends and classmates have described Delemo as a kind and energetic teenager who loved sports and spending time with friends. Vigils and memorials have been planned near his school to honor his memory.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the fatal encounter to contact the Suffolk County Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392. As the investigation continues, police are reminding parents to monitor gatherings and be aware of the risks associated with unsupervised underage parties, emphasizing that one night of recklessness has now left two families shattered.
