Jennifer Lawrence Opens Up About Paparazzi Trauma and Postpartum Anxiety After Motherhood

Jennifer Lawrence is speaking candidly about how life in the spotlight has affected her since becoming a mother. The Oscar-winning actress revealed that intense paparazzi attention left her feeling traumatized after welcoming her children with husband Cooke Maroney.

In a new interview with The New Yorker, the Die My Love star, 35, described the constant anxiety she felt while being followed by photographers. “It’s better than the cat-and-mouse thing where I’m going into garages and my eyes are darting around and I wonder if someone’s chasing me,” she said.

Lawrence explained that she eventually realized her stress was affecting more than just her own peace of mind. “I realized that my kids would be aware of my energy, and that, if I was nervous and pissed when we left the house, they would feel that in their little bodies,” she told the outlet.

The actress has been increasingly private about her family life since giving birth to her first child in 2022, followed by her second earlier this year. Despite her fame, she has made it clear that motherhood has changed her priorities, especially when it comes to balancing her career and personal life.

This is not the first time Lawrence has opened up about the challenges of early motherhood. Earlier this year, she discussed her postpartum anxiety on the No Hard Feelings podcast, admitting that the emotional adjustment was far from easy.

“I just thought every time he was sleeping, he was dead,” she shared. “I thought he cried because he didn’t like his life, or me, or his family. I thought I was doing everything wrong, and that I would ruin my children,” she said.

Her raw honesty about those fears resonated with many new mothers who have faced similar struggles. The actress has since spoken about finding healthier ways to manage anxiety and protect her mental health, including maintaining boundaries between her personal and public life.

Now, Lawrence says she feels more grounded but remains cautious about exposure. She continues to advocate for stronger privacy protections for celebrities’ children, emphasizing that kids should not be targeted by the media.

As she focuses on her growing family and upcoming projects, Lawrence’s openness offers a rare glimpse into the reality behind fame and motherhood — a reminder that even one of Hollywood’s brightest stars is still learning to navigate both worlds.
