Angelina Jolie Says She and Children Never Returned to Château Miraval Estate

Angelina Jolie revealed that she and her six children have not set foot on Château Miraval, the French estate she once shared with Brad Pitt, since their separation. According to new court documents filed Monday, October 6, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Jolie explained the emotional and financial reasons behind her decision to sell her shares of the property.

The filing is part of the ongoing legal dispute between the former couple over the ownership of the renowned French winery. The 50-year-old actress wrote that after their split, she left Pitt “control (and full residency) of our family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval, without compensation, which I hoped would make him calmer in his dealings with me after a difficult and traumatic period.”

Jolie said she and her children have avoided returning to the property ever since. “To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce,” she wrote. The Oscar-winning actress also detailed how she focused on creating stability for her family after the separation.

Post-separation, I immediately began to look for a new house for me and our children, initially renting a home while looking for a more stable solution. Because I wanted to ensure that Brad remained an important part of our children’s lives, I looked to buy a property near his home. At the time, my savings were tied up in Miraval, and I had not asked Brad for alimony or any other financial support.”

Jolie shares six children with Pitt: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 17. The former couple met in 2004 while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith, began a relationship soon after, and married in 2014 at the Miraval estate. They separated in 2016 following 12 years together and finalized their divorce in 2024 after years of legal battles, particularly over custody and financial matters.

Their dispute over Château Miraval continues to unfold. The tension escalated when Jolie sold her shares of the winery to a businessman without Pitt’s consent, leading to further litigation.

Château Miraval, located in the south of France, is known not only for its award-winning rosé wines but also for being the couple’s former family home and wedding venue. What was once a symbol of their partnership has now become a central point of one of Hollywood’s most publicized legal conflicts.
