Keith Urban Reportedly Ends Interview After Question About Nicole Kidman Scene

Country music star Keith Urban reportedly ended a virtual radio interview abruptly after being asked about his wife Nicole Kidman’s, on-screen intimate scenes with other actors, sparking media buzz and conflicting accounts from those involved.

On Tuesday, July 1, the 57-year-old musician joined Hayley & Max in the Morning on Australia’s Mix 102.3 via Zoom. During a lighthearted segment titled Wall of Truth, co-hosts Max Burford and Hayley Pearson posed a series of personal questions — a hallmark of the game — which appeared to unsettle Urban.

Burford explained the context of the segment to listeners: “When I was coming up with something to ask you, Keith Urban, if you happen to play this game, the first thing I thought of, with your beautiful wife Nicole Kidman being on so many great movies, TV shows all the time… I watched a movie with her and Zac Efron recently, A Family Affair.”

Urban replied casually, “Oh yeah, that’s a good one.” However, when Burford followed up by asking how Urban feels watching Kidman’s romantic or intimate scenes with other actors, like Zac Efron, the call was reportedly cut short. According to reports, Urban was no longer present on the Zoom connection after the question was posed.

Despite the speculation, a source close to the singer strongly denied he intentionally ended the interview. Speaking to PEOPLE, the insider stated, “Keith did not hang up, period. He doesn’t host his Zoom interviews. This is a complete nothingburger.”

Another industry source also pushed back on the incident, describing Urban as a “very easygoing” and cooperative interviewee who is not easily offended by personal or lighthearted questions. The Family Affair, a Netflix romantic comedy starring Kidman and Efron, was released in June 2024.

The film features several romantic moments between the two, which have drawn media attention. Reflecting on her experience filming with Efron, Kidman, 58, shared, “It’s really helpful when you’re doing this sort of work together that you’ve already got a history together, because it’s easy.”

Urban and Kidman, who married in 2006, remain one of Australia’s most beloved celebrity couples. They share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13. Though the interview moment has caused a stir, Urban has not publicly commented on the incident. The show’s hosts have also kept the tone light, suggesting no hard feelings over the unexpected turn of events.
