Rep. Crockett Calls on Republicans to Speak Out Against Elon Musk

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex.) is calling out Republicans for privately expressing concerns about Elon Musk while remaining silent in public. In an interview with MSNBC’s Alex Witt on Sunday, Crockett claimed that some GOP lawmakers want to see Musk “go down” but fear the political consequences of speaking up.

“Can I tell you that Republicans want to see Elon go down?” Crockett stated. “I can. Now will they come out publicly and say that? No, because they’re concerned about whether or not he’ll spend money in their next elections.”

Musk, a close ally of President Donald Trump, has been a key figure in the new administration, exerting influence over policy discussions and legislation. However, according to Crockett, not all Republicans are on board with his growing power.

She pointed to the government funding resolution from December as an example. After lawmakers from both parties reached an agreement to keep the government funded through March, Musk attempted to derail the deal on Twitter.

“There were Republicans that silently, or in the background, were cheering us on,” she recalled. “And saying ‘this is wrong.’ Like they knew we had negotiated and all of a sudden this guy who’s not elected makes a tweet on Twitter.”

Crockett emphasized the need for those Republicans to take a stand, urging them to publicly oppose Musk’s influence.

“This is their time to rise up and do what is right,” she said.

Her remarks come amid growing tensions within the Republican Party over Musk’s political sway and financial influence. While some members of the GOP have embraced him as an ally, others remain skeptical but hesitant to voice their concerns publicly.

With Musk continuing to shape the political landscape, Crockett’s challenge to Republicans raises questions about how far his influence will go and whether GOP lawmakers will be willing to push back.
