President Donald Trump touched down in Scotland on Friday for what has been described as a “working trip,” centered around meetings with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. However, his arrival at Prestwick Airport drew attention not just for political reasons, but also due to the notable absence of First Lady Melania Trump.
The 47th president is expected to spend the weekend at his Trump Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire before holding formal talks with Prime Minister Starmer on Monday, July 28. While he greeted a cluster of reporters upon arrival, Melania’s absence added fuel to growing speculation surrounding the status of their marriage, according to the OK! Magazine.
In recent months, rumors have intensified, suggesting that the Trumps are nearing a split. Since Donald Trump began his second term in January, Melania has made few public appearances and has been largely absent from official events. Her silence and continued separation from the White House have sparked questions from both political observers and close insiders.
In May, author and journalist Michael Wolff, who has chronicled Trump’s rise from real estate magnate to political heavyweight, voiced his opinion on The Daily Beast Podcast, stating: “They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage. And I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives. They are separated. The President of the United States and the First Lady are separated.”

Political scientist Malek Dudakov echoed similar sentiments, saying, “In my opinion, Trump has certain marital problems.” Dudakov added, “Melania spends most of her time not at the White House but in New York, along with her son, who recently enrolled in a university. She doesn’t even live with Trump.”
Melania herself hinted at an independent approach to her role earlier this year during an interview with Fox & Friends, explaining, “I will be in the White House, and when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach.”
While Melania did make a rare appearance at the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll in April, reports suggest she has spent no more than two weeks in Washington since Trump resumed office. As the president continues his international agenda, all eyes remain on the evolving dynamic between him and the First Lady, a matter that, for now, remains behind closed doors.
