“What a Great Loss He Is”: Prince Harry Impresses During UK Visit, Says Royal Commentator

Prince Harry made a strong impression on the Royal Family and the public during his recent trip to the United Kingdom, according to royal commentator Jennie Bond.

The four-day visit was the Duke of Sussex’s first reunion with King Charles in more than 18 months and was filled with engagements that highlighted his enduring appeal. Harry spent time visiting organizations close to his heart, meeting well-wishers, and making donations to charitable causes.

Bond noted how effective Harry was in his public appearances. “He is so damned good at the job, and this week he really seemed to be enjoying himself. He’s a natural with the crowds, funny, informal, and charming,” she said. “This week has shown what a great loss he is.”

She suggested that palace officials would likely have taken notice of Harry’s success, but cautioned that the same challenges remain. “As the Palace is concerned, it seems the basic conundrum remains how can a working member of the royal family, even a part-timer, also operate in the commercial world?”

Still, Bond believes Harry may have already found a workable balance. She pointed to his short, focused trips — managed on his own terms and with his own security — as a possible “halfway house” between royal duties and independent ventures.

The Duke has also surprised observers with his movements abroad. “Harry never ceases to surprise us these days! Everyone assumed he was flying straight back to California, and now there he is in Ukraine,” Bond told The Mirror.

She argued that Harry’s approach has allowed him to build the kind of hybrid role the Palace once refused. “You have to hand it to him, he is finding the halfway house the Palace refused to allow him, and he’s doing it on his own terms,” she said.

For Bond, Harry’s strategy not only helps him reconnect with his family but also enables him to continue supporting global charitable causes while maintaining his life in California with Meghan and their two children.

While questions remain about how the Palace views his evolving role, Bond’s assessment suggests Harry has carved out a unique path that demonstrates both his enduring strengths and his determination to define life on his own terms.
