‘People Have Come Forward in Droves’: Prince Andrew Biography to Be Completely Rewritten

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, is once again under the spotlight following revelations in Andrew Lownie’s latest biography, entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York. The book explored controversial aspects of the Duke’s past, prompting renewed scrutiny of his life and role within the royal family.

In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Lownie revealed that since the release of Entitled, the Duke’s inner circle and others connected to him have been more willing to share previously hidden information. “The amazing and astonishing thing that’s happened since Entitled came out is that people have come forward in droves with more stories to tell about Prince Andrew,” Lownie said.

He added that those who had previously stayed silent—whether out of fear, loyalty, or caution—are now speaking openly. “Those who felt they couldn’t speak to me before have now changed their mind or have realised they’ve been covering things up for him out of misplaced loyalty,” Lownie explained.

The biographer further noted that even those who had declined to contribute initially are now eager to reveal what they know. “A lot of respectable people who declined to be involved in the book are now coming forward, keen to unload the secrets they’ve been keeping for all these years,” he said.

Lownie emphasized that these new revelations will significantly alter his work. “So my Andrew book is going to have to be substantially rewritten from start to finish. It will be an entirely new book, not just a few new chapters, and I’ll get it done in time for the paperback release next summer. I think my book really broke the inertia surrounding Prince Andrew,” he stated.

The original biography sparked intense discussion over the Duke’s personal history and the impact of his actions on the monarchy. Commentators have argued that the details revealed in Entitled have cemented Prince Andrew’s diminished standing within the royal family, highlighting the long-term consequences of his controversies.

With the forthcoming revisions, readers can expect a deeper, more comprehensive look at Prince Andrew’s life and the inner workings of his circle. Lownie’s insights suggest that the story is far from over, and the next edition of Entitled will provide an even more revealing portrait of the Duke of York and the secrets that have surrounded him for decades.
