A recent video of Meghan Markle has reportedly left both Prince William and Prince Harry “furious,” with royal insiders calling it the “ultimate insult.” The controversy stems from a clip showing the Duchess of Sussex lounging in the back of a limousine, her feet propped up, as the car drove past the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana tragically died in 1997.
According to royal commentator Rob Shuter, writing for his ShuterScoop Substack, the Prince of Wales is “livid beyond words” over what he views as a deeply “insensitive” gesture. The video, which circulated online, was said to have been posted without awareness of its emotional implications — but the damage, royal experts suggest, has already been done.
Royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams told OK! Magazine, via The Mirror, that Prince Harry would likely be “horrified and extremely angry” over the video, given the painful association it carries. “The video links to the most traumatic period of his life,” Fitzwilliams said. “He would be aghast, because even though it was not intentional, it was a very bad mistake.”

Fitzwilliams emphasized that Meghan’s status makes such missteps particularly serious. “Meghan simply cannot afford to behave like that, because of who she is and the fact she has made herself into a brand,” he explained. “Her airily filming part of Paris, while it wasn’t intended to offend anybody and was clearly a mistake, was grossly insensitive, and these mistakes hold weight.”
He went on to note that Prince William would also be deeply unimpressed by the video, calling it “an ill-judged and self-centered mistake.” Both princes have long maintained a careful boundary when it comes to public references to their mother’s death, making the timing and tone of Meghan’s video especially painful, according to insiders.

The Duchess has not publicly commented on the video or the backlash. However, royal observers note that this latest controversy risks further straining already fragile relations between the Sussexes and the royal family.
While the clip may have been posted without malice, Fitzwilliams and others believe it reflects a lack of awareness that continues to shadow Meghan’s public image. “It was a mistake,” he reiterated, “but one that carries significant emotional weight for both princes.”
