According to RadarOnline, an insider revealed that the streaming giant’s recent defense of Meghan is strategic. “It’s no coincidence Sarandos is suddenly gushing about Meghan, given Harry’s secret plans for a Diana documentary,” the source said.
The insider explained the reasoning bluntly. “Netflix knows it will be ghoulish, but it will also be huge,” they said, noting the global interest any Diana-related project is certain to draw.
The source went on to claim the support is about securing Harry’s documentary deal. “The praise is about keeping the Sussexes onside and locking that project in,” the insider explained.
By contrast, Meghan’s solo ventures, including her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, have reportedly struggled to gain traction. “There’s no real appetite inside Netflix for Meghan’s jam and flower-selling shows,” the source added.
“What they care about is the guaranteed global audience Harry brings with anything to do with Diana,” the insider said. Netflix chief executive Ted Sarandos recently made headlines for praising Meghan during an appearance on the Aspire podcast with Emma Grede.
He described the Duchess of Sussex as both impactful and accomplished, despite reports of disappointing numbers for her debut project. “One thing we learned early with Meghan… she has remarkable influence – remarkable,” Sarandos said. He also called her a “remarkable influence” and “successful in every measure.”
