King Charles May Reconsider Prince Harry’s Security After Stalker Incident Raises Concern

King Charles is reportedly weighing whether to intervene in Prince Harry’s security arrangements following reports that a stalker came dangerously close to his son, according to a royal expert.

Royal commentator Arthur Edwards told The Sun that the situation could prompt the King to rethink his stance, even though the Duke of Sussex gave up official taxpayer-funded protection after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.

Since moving to the United States, Harry has relied on private security, which reportedly includes former police officers. Edwards noted that the team has managed Harry’s safety well so far, but said the recent stalking incident could renew debate over whether his private arrangements are sufficient.

“I mean, every day you pick a paper up, someone’s got a stalker. Mylene Class has got a stalker,” Edwards said. “I mean, do they deserve protection from them? As the late queen said, you can’t be half in and half out of the royal family.”

The royal expert added that while the King might feel compelled to act out of concern for his son, the broader principle of royal security funding remains unchanged. “You’re out, and he’s out,” Edwards said. “I don’t think he should get the government to the Home Office to protect him.”

Edwards suggested that Harry’s current security detail appears capable and professional. “I think he’s got these minders with him now, and they did a brilliant job. I think it’s got a bit overplayed,” he said. Prince Harry has been vocal about his security concerns since leaving the United Kingdom.

He previously took legal action against the Home Office after being denied the right to pay for police protection while visiting Britain. In February, the court ruled against him, finding that the government’s decision to remove his automatic access to police security was lawful.

The latest stalking incident has reignited discussion over the risks Harry faces as a high-profile public figure and the challenges of balancing royal protocol with personal safety.

Royal sources told British media that King Charles remains personally concerned for his son’s well-being but is unlikely to make any immediate changes to his official security arrangements without government approval.

While the palace has not commented publicly on the matter, experts believe the King may face pressure to privately offer additional support to his youngest son—especially as threats against public figures continue to rise across the U.K.
