LONDON – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing a new source of tension in their marriage, as the Duke of Sussex struggles to accept Meghan’s increasing focus on social media.
The Duchess of Sussex made her much-anticipated return to social media earlier this year to promote the launch of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, as well as her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. However, as the show receives mixed reviews, Meghan has remained highly active on Instagram, a habit that appears to be causing concern for Harry.

According to a source who spoke with Heat Magazine, Harry is in “huge shock” over how much time Meghan is now spending on social media, given that both had previously maintained a “very hands-off approach.”
“Meghan went so long without really looking at social media,” the source revealed. “So, for her to now suddenly be back in full Instagram mode is a huge shock for Harry.” The insider explained that Meghan’s rising follower count has been a major boost to her, but it has also become an addiction.

“Seeing her followers going up has put a smile back on Meghan’s face, but it’s also addictive. She’s checking her phone constantly and she’s on it morning, noon, and night,” they said. “Harry’s managed to get her to silence the notifications, so he doesn’t have to hear them pinging, but that hasn’t stopped her.”
The Duke of Sussex is reportedly eager for Meghan to step back from social media, feeling that it is consuming too much of her time and energy. He is even advocating for a “digital detox” and wishes she would “put the phone down.”

The source added that Harry “doesn’t understand why the handling of the account can’t just be passed over to a social media expert. She can check in once a week with a strategy meeting and be done with it. To be honest, he’d love to see her take social media apps off her phone altogether.”
As Meghan continues to build her personal brand and digital presence, it remains to be seen whether the couple can find common ground on the issue. With Harry advocating for a more detached approach and Meghan fully embracing her return to the online space, this latest disagreement highlights another challenge in their evolving public and private lives.
