Prince William and Prince Harry’s long-running rift could finally begin to heal—but only with help from Kate Middleton, according to royal insiders.
The brothers, who reportedly haven’t spoken in months, remain estranged despite multiple attempts at reconciliation. But royal expert Charlotte Griffiths believes the Princess of Wales could be the one person capable of bridging the divide.
“I think Harry could get around the William problem if he got Catherine on board,” Griffiths said. “If Catherine played peacemaker, which I think she would be open to as she is, or was, quite fond of Harry.”
Griffiths suggested that Kate’s influence within the royal family and her historically warm relationship with Harry could make her a key figure in any possible reconciliation. However, she also made it clear that a full return to royal life for the Duke of Sussex remains unlikely. “William will not have his brother back in the royal family when he is on the throne,” she added.
The strained relationship between the princes has been a source of ongoing speculation since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Their public interviews and Netflix documentary deepened tensions with the royal household, particularly with William and Kate.
Despite the distance, some experts believe time—and Kate’s diplomacy—could help rebuild trust. The Princess of Wales has long been seen as a stabilizing force within the monarchy, often praised for her grace and discretion.
Author Brian Hoey, who has written a biography of Prince William, echoed that sentiment in remarks to The Sun. “They say cometh the hour, cometh the man. But in the Royal Family’s case, it’s a woman,” he said. “Thank God for Kate — she is the rock the monarchy will depend on. On Saturday, she behaved absolutely impeccably.”
Hoey’s comments come as the Princess continues to balance her royal duties with raising three young children alongside Prince William. Her steady presence and growing public confidence have made her one of the most admired figures in the royal family.
While any reconciliation between the brothers remains uncertain, many observers agree that if peace is ever restored, it will likely begin with Kate Middleton—the royal who has quietly become the heart of the modern monarchy.
