As Meghan Markle prepares to celebrate her 44th birthday this month, royal expert Jennie Bond believes Prince Harry is already planning something special to mark the occasion despite continued silence from the Royal Family.
Speaking to the Mirror, the former BBC royal correspondent shared her insights into how the Duke of Sussex may celebrate his wife’s birthday. “I definitely thought that being 44 was a bit of a nondescript birthday, not particularly worthy of a special celebration,” Bond said. “But I’m sure that Harry will want to make a fuss of his wife on her special day.”
Bond, who has followed the Royal Family closely for decades, believes that Harry remains deeply devoted to Meghan and will likely go above and beyond to create a memorable celebration. “As far as I can see, he is still head over heels in love with Meghan and will probably organise a romantic dinner or perhaps a beach party with friends and lots of children to celebrate their happy family life in California,” she said.
“Maybe a sunrise yoga session would set the day up rather nicely!” Now residing in Montecito, California, Harry and Meghan have established a life far removed from the formality and expectations of royal duties in the UK. The couple, who stepped back from official royal life in 2020, has since focused on raising their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and working on philanthropic and media ventures.
As for birthday wishes from Prince Harry’s royal relatives, Bond suggested that Meghan shouldn’t expect much. “I don’t think Meghan should hold her breath for birthday messages from the Royal Family,” Bond noted, hinting at the continued tension between the Sussexes and other senior royals.
“Though it may well be that Princess Eugenie—and possibly Beatrice—will send a present or a card.” Relations between Harry and his royal relatives have remained strained in recent years, exacerbated by interviews, documentaries, and the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare, all of which revealed private family dynamics and grievances.
Still, Bond’s commentary paints a picture of a contented couple focused on their own happiness and family life. Meghan Markle’s birthday, she suggests, will likely be a personal and heartfelt affair, free from royal protocols and instead centered around love, relaxation, and the couple’s shared California lifestyle.
