Queen Camilla is still hurt by Prince Harry’s memoir comments after peace talks

Queen Camilla is said to remain deeply offended by remarks Prince Harry made about her in his memoir Spare, with palace insiders suggesting reconciliation will not come quickly.

The issue resurfaced shortly after Harry’s recent visit with King Charles at Clarence House. The meeting, described as an attempt at peace talks, was attended by both the King and Queen.

Following the gathering, a royal confidant shared Camilla’s feelings in an interview with The Sunday Times. According to the insider, time will be needed before any relationship can heal. “It will take time,” the confidant said. “He has been extremely unkind to her in print and in word, and she doesn’t forgive easily.”

The source also emphasized the royal family’s long memory. “The royal family makes elephants look like they have short memories,” the confidant added. The comments referenced stem largely from Harry’s 2023 interview with 60 Minutes and his memoir.

In that interview, he accused Camilla of sacrificing him for her own gain, saying she “sacrificed me on her personal PR altar.” Harry’s memoir expanded on those claims, portraying Camilla as someone willing to use the media to reshape her public image.

His choice of words sparked widespread debate and further strained relations within the family. At the same time, Harry tempered his criticism with more measured remarks, acknowledging that their relationship is outwardly civil. “When I see her, we’re perfectly pleasant with each other.

She’s my stepmother. I don’t look at her as an evil stepmother,” he said. He also added, “I see someone who married into this institution and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake.”

Despite these conciliatory comments, royal experts note that Camilla has long been sensitive to public opinion, and Harry’s accusations cut deeply. The Queen Consort, once viewed controversially by the public, has spent years working to build her reputation as a steady partner to Charles and a respected figure in the monarchy.

Observers say Harry’s visit to Clarence House marked a step toward rebuilding his relationship with his father, but tensions with Camilla remain unresolved. While Charles is thought to be eager for some form of reconciliation, those close to the Queen suggest she will be far slower to move on from the past.

The latest insights highlight the complicated dynamics within the royal family, where old grievances continue to shape present relationships. For Harry, any path toward repairing family ties may depend as much on Camilla’s willingness to forgive as on his father’s desire to reunite the family.
