Queen Camilla and King Charles have expressed deep sympathy for abuse victims while reaffirming their decision to remove Prince Andrew’s remaining royal titles. The move, according to royal experts, reflects both compassion and accountability at the highest level of the monarchy.
In a statement from Buckingham Palace, the King and Queen extended their thoughts to survivors of abuse before formally stripping Andrew of all his royal honors. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward told The Sun that the decision was made with careful consideration and awareness of public sentiment.
“I think that everybody who makes a statement about Andrew now has to mention they have full and great sympathies with the victims of abuse,” Seward said.

She noted that the palace’s official wording — “their majesties” — was significant. “And in this case, when it said, their majesties, I suppose people need to be reminded that Queen Camilla is very active in the area of abused women, and it is one of her charities,” Seward explained.
“She actually made a film about some of the women suffering from abuse who had to leave home and take their families with them, to set up lives in a shelter to start with,” Seward continued. “So, Camilla feels very strongly about this, and obviously, her opinion counts a great deal to the King.”
The expert emphasized that while Queen Camilla’s advocacy shaped the tone of the response, the final decision was ultimately the King’s. “This was a very, very important regal decision made by the King as head of state and as sovereign,” Seward said.

According to her, the King’s choice to act decisively was driven not only by moral responsibility but also by a desire to protect the monarchy’s integrity. “He was no longer going to put up with his brother’s shenanigans about whether he was going to go or not go,” she added.
“He’d already offered him Frogmore Cottage, which Andrew refused, and he has had to act decisively, because this story was detracting from the business of government, and the monarchy is very careful to try not to do that,” Seward explained.
The King’s decision marks a firm stance on maintaining accountability within the royal family. For Queen Camilla, whose charitable work has long focused on supporting victims of domestic and sexual abuse, the move underscores a message of solidarity with survivors — and a clear boundary for those who bring scandal to the Crown.
