Megyn Kelly on Trump Bribery Report: “We Do Not Care”

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly is facing backlash after dismissing a report about alleged bribery in Donald Trump’s administration with the blunt response, “We do not care.” The controversy began when Raw Story highlighted an MSNBC exclusive claiming that Tom Homan, Trump’s former “border czar,” had once been investigated for accepting $50,000 from undercover FBI agents.

The report quickly circulated online and drew a sharp four-word reaction from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), though the congresswoman’s comment was not detailed in the segment. While critics seized on the bribery allegation, Kelly took a very different approach. On X, she wrote: “We DO NOT CARE. Don’t bother [Homan] he’s a national treasure.”

Kelly’s statement prompted strong reactions from journalists and political commentators. MSNBC’s Sam Stein questioned whether there was anything Homan or Trump could do that would spark concern from Kelly or her allies. “For me, this just raises the question: is there ANYTHING Homan (and, I guess, Trump) could do that Megyn or others WOULD care about?” he posted, later adding, “The question of whether there are any lines left is a valid one.”

Conservative strategist Tim Miller also challenged Kelly’s dismissal. “You don’t care that government officials are taking cash bribes? What?” he asked. Kelly doubled down, responding, “No, we don’t care what you say about Tom Homan. We do not trust you. We only care about defeating you.”

Others in conservative circles voiced frustration with Kelly’s position. Former GOP pollster Sarah Longwell accused her of ignoring misconduct. “Yes, we’re aware you don’t care about the rampant corruption in this administration,” Longwell wrote. “That’s been clear.”

Kelly has not elaborated beyond her posts, but her dismissive stance reflects the polarized response to allegations tied to Trump and his associates. For critics, her comments symbolize a willingness to overlook serious accusations in the name of loyalty.

For supporters, it reflects skepticism toward mainstream outlets and the belief that attacks on Trump’s allies are politically motivated. As the story spreads, the divide between those demanding accountability and those echoing Kelly’s “we do not care” sentiment continues to deepen.
