Laura Loomer Picks Fight With Medal of Honor Hero as Fans Turn on Her

Conspiracy theorist and Trump ally Laura Loomer has found herself in the middle of a firestorm — and this time, it’s one she started. The far-right activist, known for her inflammatory takes, went after a Medal of Honor recipient on social media over the weekend, and even her most loyal followers are calling foul.

It started when the U.S. Army posted a tribute on X (formerly Twitter) marking the anniversary of Capt. Florent Groberg’s heroic act in Afghanistan back in 2012. Groberg, a French-born immigrant who later became a U.S. citizen, earned the Medal of Honor for tackling a suicide bomber, saving countless lives.

Instead of applauding the sacrifice, Loomer pounced. “Are we supposed to believe the Army couldn’t find a Republican and US-born soldier? They had to find an immigrant who voted for Hillary Clinton and spoke at the DNC as Obama’s guest?” she wrote Saturday.

She didn’t stop there. Loomer called Groberg an “anti-Trump leftist” and slammed Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll for allegedly failing to “properly vet” him. Groberg, now retired, didn’t let it slide.

“Oh boy… Thirteen years ago today is my Alive Day, the day I nearly lost my life, and four of my brothers, including three Army leaders, never came home. I’ve served under presidents from both parties and will always honor my oath to this country,” he replied.

He added, “Yes, I spoke for 60 seconds at the DNC when asked about service and sacrifice, not politics. For me, 8/8 isn’t about parties. It’s about the lives we lost.”

The blowback against Loomer came swiftly and from unexpected corners. “This is low even for you,” former GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger posted.

“As a conservative, Republican, combat veteran with a Purple Heart, this is the most obnoxious trash I’ve seen on social media in years,” wrote another user. “When we are in uniform, and everything we do in uniform isn’t red or blue. It is green and remains Green for eternity.”

One veteran put it bluntly: “You are a disgusting individual for attacking him. He has done far more for our country than you will ever do. Who cares if his politics don’t line up? It does not make him less of a hero!”

Even longtime Loomer supporters weren’t having it. “Laura, I am one of your biggest supporters, but you are very wrong on this,” one wrote. “A hero is a hero; it transcends politics. I will always respect and salute a Medal of Honor recipient.”

Loomer, unfazed, doubled down. “I got a call from a reporter a few minutes ago asking me if I’m deleting my tweet below. I said no. I don’t care about the outrage mob. And I am right to be posting about this,” she said.

She went further, accusing the Army of using the “weight behind the [Medal of Honor] to issue partisan political attacks and undermine the Commander in Chief.”

The dust-up comes as Loomer’s influence in Trump’s inner circle grows. She’s reportedly been nicknamed “Trump’s Rasputin” and has been linked to the firing of at least 16 administration officials.
