Florida man accused of intentionally crashing into vehicles with pregnant woman inside

A Florida teacher faces serious criminal charges after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into multiple cars including one carrying a nine-months-pregnant woman and her two young children telling investigators he “lost it” after discovering his wife had been unfaithful.

Nathaniel Rayman, 50, a theater teacher at the Dreyfoos School of Arts in Palm Beach, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries. He has since been placed on administrative leave and is under internal investigation by the school, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The incident unfolded around 3:20 p.m. on April 5 at the intersection of Wildcat Way and Okeechobee Boulevard, where Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a multi-vehicle crash. They arrived to find a white Kia sedan and a white Toyota RAV4 with visible damage.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the pregnant woman was stopped at a traffic light when a black Toyota first struck the RAV4 nearby, paused briefly, then accelerated directly toward her vehicle. “The black Toyota came at her vehicle at full speed and struck her,” the affidavit states, adding that “the collision appeared intentional, as the driver came directly toward her instead of turning away.”

The woman told deputies she was nine months pregnant and had her 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son in the car at the time. She was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for evaluation. Her grandmother arrived to take care of the children.

After the crashes, Rayman allegedly continued driving, striking a stop sign, a mailbox, and a cable box before stopping. Two witnesses at the scene saw him briefly exit his vehicle to inspect the damage before fleeing. One witness recorded the license plate number, which led deputies to Rayman’s residence, where they observed damage on his vehicle consistent with the crash.

When deputies first approached Rayman, he refused to cooperate, stating only that “his wife had cheated on him” and that he had been searching for her, as she drove a white Toyota.

Later interviewed at a hospital where deputies noted he had “red, glassy eyes” suggesting he was under the influence Rayman admitted he had been drinking. “Rayman stated he drank approximately six beers because he was sad about his wife,” the affidavit states.

Throughout the interview, Rayman repeatedly said he “lost it” after learning of the alleged infidelity. When asked why he didn’t stop after the crash, he responded simply: “f—ed up.”
