1-Year-Old Baby Allegedly Shot in Stroller as Mom’s Lover Takes Deadly Revenge Over Loud Music

A 1-year-old boy was fatally shot while sitting in a stroller after a violent altercation erupted between his mother and her boyfriend over loud music in their Murfreesboro, Tennessee, apartment. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at Chelsea Place Apartments, leaving the community in shock and the family devastated.

According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 2:30 p.m. and discovered that Marquavious Hampton, 25, had shot and killed 1-year-old Jeriko Logue. The tragedy unfolded after an argument between Hampton and Jeriko’s mother over the volume of music she was playing escalated into a physical fight.

Hampton allegedly pulled out a gun and fired, striking Jeriko while he sat in his stroller. Despite his mother’s attempts to shield him, the child succumbed to his injuries. She was also shot in the hand during the incident.

Hampton fled the scene, prompting a police chase that ended in Williamson County. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies initiated a pursuit after their FLOCK camera system flagged Hampton’s vehicle as being connected to a homicide in Murfreesboro. During the chase, Hampton abandoned his car and fled on foot into a nearby field, where he was later found suffering from a gunshot wound.

It remains unclear whether the wound was self-inflicted or accidental. Hampton was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Captain Becky Coyle, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office public information officer, confirmed that Hampton was the subject of an arrest warrant related to Jeriko’s murder. Both shootings remain under investigation.

Jeriko’s family is grappling with the unimaginable loss. His grandmother, Lucretia Logue, tearfully told WTVF, “They took everything, I mean, everything from me. I don’t even have any other words. They took my whole world. I’m just lost. I don’t know what to do anymore.”

She remembered Jeriko as a joyful child who “lit up the room with those bright eyes every time he came around.” Jeriko’s cousin, Enashie Wise, expressed disbelief at the cruelty of the act, stating, “How could somebody be so heartless to hurt a baby? He didn’t even have time to talk. He just learned how to walk.”

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover funeral and medical expenses for the Logue family. The page describes Jeriko as a “sweet, playful, and innocent soul” who brought “endless love and joy” to those around him. “Just last month, he took his first steps and spoke his first words, ‘mama’ and ‘papa,’” the fundraiser reads.

As of Wednesday night, the campaign had raised over 4,500ofits4,500ofits9,000 goal. The community continues to mourn the loss of a child whose life was tragically cut short, while authorities work to piece together the events that led to this heartbreaking incident.
