Kelley Mack, known for her role as Addy on The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33 following a battle with a rare form of cancer. The actress’s death was confirmed through a statement posted to her official Instagram account on Tuesday.
“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley,” the post read. “Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go. Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother, Kristen, and steadfast aunt Karen present.”
The statement also noted that Kelley had “already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies,” adding, “She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”
Mack was best known for her portrayal of Addy in five episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead during its ninth season in 2018. Her career also included appearances in popular shows such as 9-1-1, Chicago Med, and the TV film Mr. Manhattan.
In addition to her television roles, Mack starred in the 2021 horror-thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion, alongside Glee actor Harry Shum Jr. and This Is Us star Chris Sullivan.
Kelley was the sister of actor Parker Mack, known for his work in Ouija: Origin of Evil, Faking It, and Divergent. Mack first revealed her cancer diagnosis publicly in September of last year. In a March Instagram post, she updated her followers on her treatment progress.
“Overall, this journey has not been easy, but things are getting better — improvements are tough to see when you’re in the thick of it,” she wrote. “Thank you again and again for the support and prayers.”
Kelley had undergone proton radiation therapy and was in the midst of physical rehabilitation at the time. Following the news of her passing, fans and friends have taken to social media to share their grief and pay tribute to her legacy.
One fan wrote, “How terribly sad. Thoughts go out to her loved ones.” Another tweeted, “Oh no. Loved her in Broadcast Signal Intrusion. Rest in Peace, Kelley.” A third shared, “Kelley Mack, who played Addy on The Walking Dead, passed away. This is so sad and so young.”
Mack is remembered not only for her talent and on-screen presence but also for her strength, grace, and enduring spirit throughout her illness.
