Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s rumored romance has gone from sweet to messy almost overnight. Just a few weeks ago, the pair were lighting up headlines after their chemistry at the New York premiere of The Naked Gun in July.
Fans were excited to see Pam and Liam together, and even Natasha Richardson’s sister had publicly given them her blessing. Pamela played coy at first, calling their bond “professionally romantic,” but a source later told People the two were in the early stages of “a budding romance.” According to that source, it was “sincere” and obvious that the two were “smitten” as they enjoyed spending time together during the film’s press run.
Then Friday hit, and TMZ dropped a bombshell. The outlet reported that Pamela and Liam’s romance wasn’t real at all but instead a carefully staged PR stunt. Citing sources who claimed to have direct knowledge, TMZ said their publicists and Paramount had orchestrated the relationship to promote The Naked Gun.

“In fact, we’re told Pamela and Liam didn’t even see each other from the time cameras stopped rolling in June 2024 until the press tour launched more than a year later, in July 2025,” the outlet wrote. TMZ also alleged that Pam’s sweet anecdotes about baking for Liam never happened and that the pair never had private dinners together.
The internet quickly lit up. Fans who had fallen for the idea of Pam and Liam as a couple suddenly felt duped, wondering whether all the handholding and playful banter was nothing more than an act.
So far, neither Pamela nor Liam has addressed TMZ’s claims. But People reported that multiple insiders pushed back hard against the accusations. “Everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt. They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity,” one source told the magazine.
Another insider echoed the sentiment, saying, “Their relationship isn’t just for show. They have a real connection. There’s no incentive for either of them to stage something like this.”
As for the claim that the two never even went on a proper date, one source dismissed that as flat-out “ridiculous.” Right now, the truth seems tangled between two very different narratives.

On one side, TMZ paints a picture of a manufactured Hollywood romance meant to sell tickets. On the other hand, People’s sources insist that what fans have seen is authentic and not part of some marketing play.
Whether Pam and Liam eventually clear things up themselves remains to be seen. Until then, fans are left wondering if they’ve been watching the start of a genuine love story or just another Hollywood performance.
