Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are reportedly heading for a $400 million divorce.
In its April 18 issue, Globe claimed that the couple has been having issues in their marriage. But the Oscars incident was the final nail in the coffin for Jada and Will.
“They’ve been living in a pressure cooker and the lid blew off when Chris Rock made that tasteless joke about Jada’s shaved head. It wasn’t just the joke. Will felt Chris was mocking him and sneering at how emasculated he’s become,” the source said.
The insider also asserted that Will’s family is supporting him after he smashed Rock during the Oscars earlier this month. But behind closed doors, they have all begun to distance themselves from the actor.
Now, the source is forcing that Jada and Will’s divorce won’t be an easy feat because the couple doesn’t reportedly have a prenuptial agreement.
“There’s a lot of tears and tension behind the scenes. Will’s going to be limping from the bank because Jade will surely take him to the cleaners,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s assets with a grain of salt.
As of late, there are no signs that Jada and Will are going for a divorce. In fact, the couple has stuck through all their problems throughout the past couple of years. So, it looks unlikely for the Oscars slap to put an end to their marriage.
Just days after the incident, Jada made her first public look in Los Angeles sans her husband. The Gotham actress went with Shonda Rhimes and Debbie Allen at the opening of the Rhimes Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
Following the incident, Jada has not argued directly about what happened. She has also been absent on social media, so there are theorizations that she and Will have been quarreling behind closed doors. However, during an episode of Red Table Talk, the actress said that this season is all about healing, and she’s here for it.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, this sounded like Jada was relating the incident. But it’s ambiguous if this was actually the case.
Will slapped Rock during his period at the awards show after he joked about Jada’s hair loss. It was previously disclosed that Jada decided to weed out her head totally after she was diagnosed with alopecia or extreme hair fall.
