Scarlett Johansson is speaking out about her experience working with Justin Baldoni’s production company amid the intensifying legal drama involving Baldoni and actress Blake Lively.
The Black Widow star, 40, praised Wayfarer Studios, co-founded by Baldon, for their unwavering support during the making of her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great. In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, Johansson reflected on the film’s journey as it prepares to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

“[The studio] was super supportive throughout the process,” she told the publication. “But yeah, such weird timing,” she added, alluding to the ongoing legal turmoil surrounding Baldoni and Lively.
The controversy escalated recently when Gossip Girl star Blake Lively publicly accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of It Ends With Us, a romantic drama the two co-starred. The allegations triggered a swift response from Baldoni, who filed a $400 million countersuit for defamation and extortion, according to Us Weekly.

Johansson’s name unexpectedly surfaced in the countersuit, with court documents referencing her past marriage to actor Ryan Reynolds. The legal filing alleges that Reynolds’ relationship with Lively, whom he married after divorcing Johansson, played a role in what Baldoni claims is a coordinated attack on his reputation.
The countersuit implies Johansson was caught in the crossfire of a deeply personal dispute. While she has not been accused of wrongdoing, her past connection to Reynolds has brought her name into the spotlight during a highly sensitive legal standoff.
Despite the controversy, Johansson has remained focused on her work, particularly Eleanor the Great, which marks a major milestone in her career as a filmmaker. The project has garnered early attention for its intimate storytelling and Johansson’s unique directorial vision.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, she expressed pride in the film and gratitude for the team that stood behind her during its production. Wayfarer Studios, despite being at the center of a high-profile lawsuit, has continued to back Johansson and her film publicly.

The unfolding legal battle between Baldoni and Lively continues to capture headlines, but Johansson has kept her focus on her work and the positive experience she had with the studio.
With her Cannes debut approaching and a new chapter as a director underway, Johansson seems determined to rise above the surrounding noise and let her work speak for itself.
