Cardi B Turns to Shakira for Heartbreak Advice After Split From Offset

Cardi B recently opened up about seeking guidance from Shakira after her emotional split from Offset. In a candid conversation on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, the rapper discussed the process of healing following her seven-year marriage to Offset.

During the interview, which aired on October 6, Cardi reflected on her personal journey through heartbreak and the advice she received from Shakira. The two artists collaborated on their 2023 song Puntería, released around the time Shakira also experienced a breakup from her longtime partner, Gerard Piqué.

“I was like, how did you overcome this?” Cardi shared, recalling her conversation with Shakira. “And [she’s] like, ‘It’s going to happen.’” The Grammy-winning artist went on to explain that Shakira had told her that the healing process wasn’t easy, but ultimately, she found strength.

“It took some crying. It took some thoughts, scary thoughts. But I’m here, honey, I’m here, and I’m the strongest I’ve been,” Cardi quoted her. The Up rapper also delved into her own emotional journey, revealing that it took a considerable amount of time before she could truly let go.

“It took months for the heart to say, ‘You’re done.’ My heart had to be like, ‘You’re done,’” she explained. “Because you could say it and you could take actions.” Cardi, whose full name is Belcalis Almánzar, described the feeling as something that required both emotional acceptance and personal resolve.

Cardi continued to reflect on how she now feels emotionally stronger than ever. “That’s how I feel right now. Like I feel like I live in a power,” she said, adding that she felt the same strength she experienced in her early twenties.

Later in the conversation, Cardi also spoke about her children’s future. Sharing that she has three children with Offset and is currently expecting her fourth baby with her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, she discussed her hopes for their upbringing. “It’s discipline. It’s gotta be in you, and you have to be better than me,” she said.

“I want my children to be better than me,” she added. “There are things that I cannot do that I want my children to do.” The rapper’s focus on personal growth and her children’s futures highlighted her commitment to creating a better path for them.
