Lionel Richie hospitalised after St. Louis concert

Lionel Richie has been hospitalised in St. Louis after performing at The Muny in Forest Park over the weekend, according to TMZ.

Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that Richie checked himself into a local hospital after his Saturday night performance on August 29 to undergo medical tests. He is currently in the intensive care unit, with doctors reportedly investigating possible slight dehydration.

Sources said Richie is being cautious and hopes to be discharged on Tuesday.

Witnesses at the concert reportedly noticed that the singer appeared to be struggling towards the end of the performance.

During his final song, “All Night Long”, Richie asked his team to bring him a chair so he could sit while finishing the performance.

The hospitalisation follows another health incident earlier this year. In June, Richie was taken to hospital by ambulance after falling ill onstage during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota.

During that performance, Richie told the audience that he felt “dizzy” and “strange” before ending the concert early. Paramedics subsequently met him backstage and transported him to a hospital.

Richie later returned to the stage following the June health scare, with his subsequent performances continuing as planned.

The singer has continued performing during 2026, including his recent St. Louis concert at The Muny. The latest hospitalisation occurred after that performance, with medical professionals reportedly carrying out tests to determine the cause of his condition.
