“If Meghan truly wanted a family reunion, it would have happened by now”: King Charles Issues Warning to Prince Harry

Prince Harry’s hopes of reconciling with the royal family and reintroducing his children to their British roots appear to have hit a sensitive crossroads, with a new report suggesting his father has issued a firm warning about what must happen next.

According to sources, King Charles III has made it clear that while his affection for Prince Harry remains unchanged, he expects his son to take a more active role in resolving tensions, particularly when it comes to Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle.

The relationship appeared to be thawing in September, when the King welcomed his estranged son for a “private tea” at Clarence House. Sources said “no corners were cut” for the meeting, with Harry’s “favourite” cake prepared for the occasion. The exchange was reportedly warm, with gifts shared between father and son. Harry is said to have presented Charles with a framed portrait of his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

However, momentum appears to have stalled. Harry is now facing fresh turmoil following the departure of Meredith Maines, the publicist who helped arrange the reunion, from the Sussex team. Amid that shake-up, insiders say Charles is growing frustrated with the lack of progress.

“If Meghan truly wanted a family reunion, it would have happened by now,” one source said, adding that “Charles isn’t in constant contact with Harry, but they do keep in touch.”

The same insider revealed that the King has been “urging Harry to be more assertive and encourage Meghan to make it possible.” As Charles enters a later stage of life, his priorities have shifted.

“At this point in his life, Charles simply wants peace and some normalcy with his family. His love for Harry has never wavered, no matter how tense their relationship has been.”

Harry has previously spoken about wanting his children to understand their heritage and “to feel at home [in the U.K.] as much as where they live at the moment in the U.S.” That desire, sources say, resonates deeply with Charles, who is described as a doting grandfather eager to build a meaningful bond with Archie and Lilibet.

While proud of Harry’s devotion as a father, the King reportedly hopes his son will “step up” and take decisive action so his children do not miss out on a crucial part of who they are. For Charles, reconciliation is still possible, but only if real effort follows words.
