Speculation is growing that President Donald Trump could soon make changes to his inner circle, as political analysts warn that officials closely aligned with the MAGA movement may increasingly dominate key government roles next year.
CBS News chief Washington analyst Robert Costa suggested that pressure is building behind the scenes, even if Trump is not known for quickly pushing people out.
“[Trump] doesn’t like to be pressured to get rid of anybody. But there are so many people in the so-called MAGA universe who want these slots, and they are able to get access to these officials,” Costa said. “I wouldn’t rule anything out, based on my reporting.”

That view was echoed by CBS senior White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs, who believes turnover among top advisers may be approaching. “I think we will see some senior advisers in the West Wing leave,” she said, pointing to a potential reshuffling rather than a full overhaul.
According to reporting cited by The Daily Beast, the core of Trump’s team is expected to remain intact. Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt are all seen as firmly positioned within the president’s trusted inner circle. However, analysts say changes could be significant elsewhere in the administration.
The outlet highlighted ongoing scrutiny surrounding Kash Patel, the current head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as Kristi Noem, suggesting both could be vulnerable amid mounting criticism.
Rumors about Patel’s possible departure intensified earlier this month following the release of an insider dossier. Salon reported that multiple FBI sources described morale within the bureau as deteriorating. One unnamed source said the atmosphere was bleak, while a 30-year FBI veteran claimed morale was at an “all-time low” and argued the problem was “at the top.”

An insider added bluntly, “Nobody here will miss him. He has no credibility.” The White House has pushed back on those claims. Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said, “President Trump has full confidence in his entire law enforcement and justice team.”
Still, criticism continues. Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner accused Patel of repeated missteps, saying, “It looks like FBI Director Kash Patel is either unwilling or unable to learn from his mistakes because in yet another high-profile shooting, old Kash just got it wrong again.”
As Trump weighs loyalty against political pressure, analysts say the coming months could reveal whether stability or transformation defines the next chapter of his administration.
