Wisconsin Woman Charged in Boyfriend’s Stabbing Death After Self-Inflicted Claim Fails

A Greenwood couple is now facing felony charges after police say they boarded a school bus on Halloween, assaulted multiple children, and encouraged their own son to join in. Donquarious Ridley and Raven Barner were each charged in Johnson County with two counts of battery on a person less than 14 years old. Ridley faces an additional charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The incident began on the morning of October 31 when Greenwood police were called to the intersection of Dover Drive and Scarborough Lane for what was reported as a disturbance involving parents on a school bus. The caller told dispatchers that two adults had entered the bus without permission and were yelling at children on board. Officers arrived to find a chaotic situation already unfolding.

According to investigators, the couple believed their son was being bullied and boarded the bus to confront the students they thought were responsible. Several children told officers that the parents immediately began yelling. Security footage later confirmed that Ridley and Barner stepped onto the bus and started shouting as soon as they boarded.

Video reviewed by detectives showed Barner leaning toward a young boy and telling him that she would “beat his a**.” The footage then captured Barner striking at least two children while the bus driver and other students tried to intervene. Police say the confrontation escalated further when Ridley was seen “throwing a child to the ground” and then allowing his son to repeatedly hit the same boy. When other students attempted to help, Ridley pushed them back into their seats.

The bus driver later told police that she had not granted permission for Ridley or Barner to board. Officers quickly located the couple after reviewing the video. They spotted the pair attempting to drive away from their home, conducted a traffic stop, and took both parents into custody before transporting them to the Johnson County Jail.

This case has drawn attention not only because of its severity but also because it is not the first of its kind in central Indiana. In March, Warren Township School Police arrested an adult woman and two juveniles after they reportedly boarded a bus and assaulted children during a confrontation over bullying. Those suspects were charged with misdemeanors and were not publicly identified.

The Greenwood incident has renewed concerns about bus safety, parental conduct, and how schools and families address bullying. As the case moves forward, local officials say their top priority remains protecting students and ensuring that similar disruptions do not happen again.
