Meghan Markle Plans U.K. Trip Before Christmas, Hopes to Mend Ties With Kate Middleton

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing for their first joint trip to the United Kingdom since 2022, marking a significant step for the couple as they consider a return to royal circles — at least temporarily.

According to Woman’s Day, sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that the visit is in the works, with timing expected to be finalized soon. “By all accounts, the trip is happening, it’s just a matter of finalising the timing, but it will most likely be before Christmas,” one insider told the outlet.

The California-based couple last visited Britain together in September 2022, when they attended charity events and Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

This upcoming visit is reportedly stirring mixed emotions for Meghan, who remains wary of public scrutiny and media attention. “Obviously, Meghan’s anxious about it. She knows all eyes will be on her the minute she lands. She’s desperate to get ahead of the narrative, and she knows getting Kate, 43, on board would massively help,” the source said.

Earlier reports suggested Meghan has been eager to return to the UK, expressing a desire to see her sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, before the holidays. However, insiders told Star magazine that the duchess feels “nervous” about any potential reunion.

Meghan is said to be taking a cautious approach while signaling she wants to put past tensions behind her. “She’s been telling people that she is ready to forgive, forget, and move forward,” one source said. Despite this willingness to reconcile, trust appears to remain a lingering issue. The insider noted that Meghan is still “weary of Kate” and “not sure if she can trust her.”

Royal watchers believe the visit could mark an important turning point in the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family. Harry’s recent solo trips to London have been brief and largely private, while Meghan has remained in California, focusing on new media projects and charitable ventures.

If the visit goes ahead as planned, it would be the first time the couple has publicly appeared in Britain together in more than two years. For many observers, it could serve as a test of whether reconciliation within the royal family is truly possible — or if the divide remains as deep as ever.
