George Clooney may be one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but away from the cameras, he says life at home is centered on normal family routines. The 64-year-old actor walked the red carpet at the New York Film Festival, where he shared that his favorite part of the day has nothing to do with scripts, spotlights, or sets.
“I have normalcy. You know, I drive my kids to school every morning,” Clooney told The Daily Mail. Laughing, he added, “I have normalcy, except for this!” Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, 47, are parents to twins Ella and Alexander, now 8, who were born in June 2017.
Amal accompanied her husband to the event in a red velvet Oscar de la Renta mini-dress adorned with floral embellishments, drawing attention as the pair stepped onto the carpet together. The actor was there to promote his new film Jay Kelly, where he stars as an aging Hollywood figure opposite Adam Sandler.
Alongside his film work, Clooney is also making a mark on stage. He currently stars in the Broadway adaptation of Good Night and Good Luck, playing journalist Edward R. Murrow. The performance earned him a Best Actor nomination at the 2025 Tony Awards.
Even with a full schedule, Clooney stressed that his children remain his top priority. He explained that he tries to limit how much exposure Ella and Alexander have to the entertainment industry, at least for now.
“I try to keep the kids away from that experience right now,” he said, referring to life on set. He noted that his children were rarely around during the filming of Jay Kelly. “I’m not quite sure what they would think about it. I don’t want them to think we’re too pampered.”
