Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been married for seven years, but doubts about the strength of their relationship have resurfaced after comments from a model once linked to the royal family.
Lady Victoria Hervey, who briefly dated Prince Andrew in 1999, shared her views in an interview with Closer magazine. The 49-year-old model admitted she was surprised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s marriage had lasted this long.
“I’m amazed their marriage has lasted as long as this — I’m sure it’s only because of the kids, because it seems to have been quite rocky for a while,” Hervey said.
She suggested that the pair’s family life may be the glue keeping them together. Hervey also noted that Harry had given up much of his life in Britain to relocate, while Meghan has since returned to the United States. “She got him to move his whole life, and now she’s back where she grew up,” Hervey remarked.
Her observations contrast sharply with Meghan’s own portrayal of her marriage. The Duchess of Sussex recently shared a personal story on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, recalling one of her earliest trips with Harry.
“We met in Botswana and we camped for five days together,” Meghan told guest Tan France. “You really get to know each other when you’re in a little tent together, and it’s like — what is that outside the tent? That’s an elephant. Are we going to be safe? Yeah, you’re safe. OK.”
The anecdote, told warmly, painted a picture of intimacy and adventure, reinforcing Meghan’s message that the couple continues to value their bond.
Harry and Meghan married in 2018 in a ceremony at Windsor Castle that drew global attention. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, they have settled in California, raising their two children while pursuing media and philanthropic projects. Their ventures include book deals, documentaries, and charitable initiatives under the Archewell Foundation.
