Luis Guzmán Says Jennifer Lopez Was Just Ok During Film Collaboration

Luis Guzmán has offered an unfiltered take on Jennifer Lopez, reflecting on their time working together in the 1998 crime drama Out of Sight. In a recent appearance on Hot Ones Versus, the Wednesday star spoke candidly about a number of his former co-stars, including Adam Sandler, Jenna Ortega, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

But it was his comments on Lopez that drew the most attention from viewers. When asked about the superstar singer and actress, Guzmán did not lavish praise, instead remarking that she was simply “ok” to be around. His blunt assessment contrasted with the warmer words he shared about others he has worked with over the course of his long career.

For those unfamiliar, Guzmán played escaped prisoner Jose “Chino” Chirino in Out of Sight, acting opposite Lopez’s character, a determined federal marshal. The film, which also starred George Clooney, was one of the projects that helped cement Lopez’s status as a Hollywood leading lady in the late 1990s.

Away from revisiting past collaborations, Guzmán is busy with new work. He recently reprised his role as Gomez Addams in the second season of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday. The show has been a global success and has brought the veteran actor a fresh wave of recognition.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Guzmán explained that the role may be the most significant of his career. “You find out more about his fathering,” he said. “I do have a whole segment with my son (Isaac Ordonez) this season. And you just see how I navigate my life as a father in all the different circumstances that we come across.”

The second season of Wednesday rolled out in two parts on Netflix. The first set of episodes debuted on August 6, 2025, with the second part released nearly a month later on September 2, 2025. The split release kept fans engaged and generated considerable online discussion.

While Guzmán’s remarks about Lopez may have surprised some, they highlight his reputation for directness and honesty in interviews. With a career spanning decades and dozens of memorable roles, the actor has built a reputation for scene-stealing performances and a down-to-earth approach to Hollywood.

As he continues his run on Wednesday and reflects on past work, Guzmán’s candid comments remind audiences that his career has intersected with some of the industry’s biggest names, even if his personal assessments do not always align with public perception.
