Speculation is growing over whether Prince Harry will attend the upcoming wedding of Peter Phillips, with a royal expert suggesting his presence could overshadow the event. Speaking to Royal Insider, former royal aide Grant Harrold, who once worked closely with King Charles, said there is “a strong chance” the Duke of Sussex will receive an invitation due to his historically close relationship with Peter.
“There’s a strong chance Harry will be invited, given his historically close relationship with Peter,” Harrold said. “However, whether he attends is another matter entirely.”
Harrold explained that the challenge lies not in the invitation itself, but in the potential distraction Harry’s attendance could create. “His presence could unintentionally overshadow the wedding due to ongoing tensions within the royal family and the intense media focus that follows him,” he noted.

The Duke of Sussex has been at the center of public attention since stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020, with ongoing strained relations between him, his brother Prince William, and other members of the family. Harrold suggested that even without playing a major part in the ceremony—such as best man or usher—Harry could still draw headlines away from the couple.
“While it’s possible he won’t take on a major role in the ceremony, such as best man or usher, his attendance alone could shift attention away from the couple and onto royal dynamics,” Harrold said. “Given the current climate, there’s a real risk that his presence could become the headline, rather than the wedding itself.”
Despite these concerns, Harrold believes Peter Phillips is aware of the possible media storm and will likely invite his cousin regardless. “I think Peter is obviously aware of this and will likely invite him anyway; he just may not play a huge role,” he added.

Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and the eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II, has generally maintained a lower public profile compared to other senior royals. His wedding is expected to draw attention from royal watchers, though the scale of that attention could rise dramatically if Prince Harry attends.
Whether the Duke of Sussex ultimately decides to be there remains uncertain, but as Harrold’s comments suggest, his presence could turn what is meant to be a celebration of Peter and his bride into a renewed focal point for royal family tensions. For now, the guest list—and the potential media frenzy—remains a matter of speculation.
