Prince William and Prince Andrew’s Long-Standing Rift Revealed in New Biography

A new royal biography is making headlines for shedding light on a reportedly strained relationship between Prince William, the Prince of Wales, and his uncle, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.

The book, titled The Rise and Fall of the Yorks, reveals alleged behind-the-scenes tensions between the two senior royals that have reportedly simmered for years. As reported by The Mirror, one of the sources of friction is said to be Prince Andrew’s past comments directed at William’s wife, Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.

While the biography does not go into detail about the nature of these remarks, they were reportedly considered “rude” and are believed to have contributed to the ongoing discord between the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York.

The revelations don’t stop there. The book also claims that Prince William has long been pushing to have his uncle and Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, evicted from the Royal Lodge, a grand Windsor residence that the pair continue to occupy despite their divorce.

According to the biography, a source close to the royals stated, “He [William] also loathes Sarah, Andrew’s ex-wife, and can’t wait for the day when his father throws them both out.”

The source added, “If Charles doesn’t, I guarantee you the first thing William does when he eventually becomes king is to get them evicted.” The Royal Lodge has been a point of controversy in recent years, with ongoing reports suggesting concerns over Prince Andrew’s upkeep of the historic property.

The family tension was also publicly noted earlier this year during the royal family’s Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel. While Prince Andrew was in attendance, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children were notably absent. Instead, the Wales family opted to extend their holiday break in Norfolk, fueling further speculation about the depth of the family divide.

Though the royal family has not officially responded to the claims made in the biography, the revelations have reignited discussions about internal tensions within the House of Windsor — particularly as the monarchy continues to navigate a new era under King Charles III.

As Prince William prepares for his future role as monarch, the biography paints a portrait of a royal heir who is not only deeply loyal to his immediate family but also determined to bring about change — even if that means clashing with his own relatives.
