30-Year-Old Tennessee Mother Shot Child’s Father in Front of Son and Admitted to Pulling the Trigger

A Memphis woman is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting the father of her child while their young child was present in the room, according to Shelby County court records. The suspect, 30-year-old Keosha Vester, was out on parole for a prior assault involving the same man earlier this year.

In that February incident, she was accused of attacking him, and now she finds herself back behind bars—this time on a $100,000 bond. According to the Memphis Police Department, the most recent incident occurred early Saturday morning at a residence on Marechalneil Street in the Orange Mound neighborhood.

The victim’s roommate told investigators he answered a knock at the front door and found a woman—later identified as Vester—asking to see the father of her child. After escorting her to the man’s room, the roommate said he soon heard at least three gunshots and immediately called 911.

Tragically, police allege the couple’s child was in the room during the shooting. The father, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. By the time police arrived at the scene, Vester had fled. Officers quickly located her a few blocks away near the intersection of Pendleton Street and Deadrick Avenue, according to Action News 5.

During a search, officers recovered a Taurus T22 handgun, a knife, and a large brick from her purse. Vester reportedly told police that the shooting resulted from a heated argument with the victim. She has since been charged with multiple offenses, including domestic violence, reckless endangerment, contempt of court, and violating existing bond conditions related to her earlier case.

The fact that she was already on parole for allegedly assaulting the same man has only intensified concerns about the escalating pattern of violence. Her previous case had not yet been fully resolved at the time of the latest attack. Authorities have not yet provided an update on the victim’s condition, and child welfare officials have not disclosed whether the child has been removed from the home or placed in protective custody.

The Memphis Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, Vester remains in custody at the Shelby County Jail. This case has reignited conversations around domestic violence, parole supervision, and the safety of children in high-risk home environments. It remains unclear when Vester will next appear in court to face the new charges.
