Prince Harry is pushing back hard against the British press once again, claiming that a front-page story from The Sun linking him to a high-profile sex-trafficking case involving Sean “Diddy” Combs did serious damage, not just to him, but to his entire family, as reported by The Guardian.
According to court documents revealed this week, Harry says the article, published in March 2024, had a “hugely negative impact on his mental health and that of his wife and children.” The story ran under the bold headline “Harry named in P Diddy sex traffic case,” even though deep in the article it noted that he wasn’t accused of any wrongdoing.

Harry believes the story wasn’t just bad journalism, but an intentional hit job by The Sun, motivated by revenge. He claims it was payback for his lawsuit against News Group Newspapers (NGN), the publisher of The Sun, for phone hacking and other forms of unlawful information gathering. He says the paper has been going after him with a string of “false and highly derogatory” stories ever since he filed his legal complaint in 2019.

A source close to the situation told The Guardian that Harry sees this as part of a pattern where the tabloids have tried to ruin his credibility. The documents allege that since filing his claim, The Sun and The Sun on Sunday have run stories accusing him of betraying his family, lying for sympathy, and even being a traitor—all leading up to the article tying him to Diddy’s legal troubles.
What seems to have hurt the most is the way his name was dragged into a legal claim that had nothing to do with him. The lawsuit against Diddy was filed by producer Rodney Jones, who claimed that celebrity affiliations were used to legitimize the rapper’s wild parties. Jones mentioned Harry’s name in passing, saying that people could get access to stars and dignitaries like him at those events. But Harry says he met Diddy only once—back in 2007 at a memorial concert for his mom, Princess Diana—and has never been to one of his parties.

NGN says it was simply reporting what was in the court documents and that multiple outlets covered the same story. A spokesperson for the company said the article made it clear Harry wasn’t accused of any wrongdoing and that they take accuracy seriously. They also emphasized that Harry had already stepped down as a working royal and moved to California years before the story was published.
In January 2025, NGN settled the phone hacking case with Harry, agreeing to pay damages and legal fees reportedly exceeding £10 million. As part of that settlement, NGN apologized for the invasion of his privacy and the damage caused by years of unlawful activity by its former newspaper, News of the World, and private investigators working for The Sun.
But even with the apology and the payout, Harry isn’t letting this go quietly. The court documents show just how personal this has become for him. For Harry, it’s not just about press coverage—it’s about protecting his family and calling out what he sees as a deeply toxic media culture.
