George Clooney recently shut down rumors of marital trouble with his wife, international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, insisting during a televised interview that the couple has never had a single argument. But one leading body language expert isn’t convinced.
Clooney, 63, joked during the appearance that he and Amal were still “trying to find something to fight about,” brushing off speculation that their marriage may be under strain. However, Susan Constantine, a noted deception detection expert and coauthor of the upcoming book How to Spot a Liar in Seven Seconds, told RadarOnline that Clooney’s on-air behavior tells a different story.

“There is a distinct shift in his body language when he talks about his wife,” Constantine said. “It’s obvious it’s something very sensitive to him because he does a lot of deflecting.” Analyzing Clooney’s gestures and expressions during the interview, Constantine pointed to rapid eye blinking and thumb rubbing, classic signs, she explained, of underlying anxiety.
“He leaked out the three indicators of deception like bam, bam, bam, and that tells me there is something he’s not telling us,” she claimed, emphasizing that the combination of micro-expressions and self-soothing gestures may suggest discomfort or concealment.
While the actor appeared confident and composed in other segments of the interview, Constantine noted a “noticeable change” in tone and demeanor when the topic shifted to Amal, sparking her suspicion that all might not be as perfect as Clooney claims.
“I think he’s not being completely forthright,” she added. “In short, his body language is betraying him.”
