Trump Explodes Over Emmy Nod for ’60 Minutes’ Kamala Interview and Calls It ‘Election Interference Propaganda’

President Donald Trump has launched a blistering attack on CBS and the Emmy Awards following the announcement that 60 Minutes received a nomination for its interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. The interview, nominated in the “Outstanding Edited Interview” category, sparked immediate backlash from Trump, who called the recognition a “slap in the face to anyone who believes in TRUTH and Honest Journalism.”

Posting on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump denounced the segment as a “Fake News Puff Piece,” accusing 60 Minutes and its parent company of manipulating the interview to favor Harris. “Did 60 Minutes and its Corporate Parents apply to get an Emmy for an illegally falsified interview, or did other Fake Outlets nominate them for this dubious ‘honor’?” he questioned.

Trump’s outrage centers around CBS airing two different segments of Harris’s response—first during Face the Nation and later on 60 Minutes. Critics argue the network selectively edited the content. CBS has denied any wrongdoing, asserting that no deceptive editing occurred. However, Paramount Global, CBS’s parent company, has reportedly been pursuing a legal settlement, potentially to smooth the path for a proposed merger with Skydancereports The Daily Beast.

On May 7, Trump took further aim at the network, calling the interview an “Election Interfering interview,” especially as it aired just days before the 2024 presidential election. He claimed the editing “unlawfully fixed, manipulated, and doctored Harris’s responses “to try and make Kamala appear at least somewhat coherent.”

He further accused the network and its executives of suppressing the full transcript until after the election. While CBS did eventually release the full, uncut version in February 2025, Trump remains adamant that the interview was nothing short of “fake, corrupt, anti-Trump propaganda.”

Trump’s communications chief, Steven Cheung, also blasted the Emmy nomination. In an interview with Fox News Digital, he quipped, “Of course it’s nominated for best editing because it takes some serious talent to edit Kamala’s answer into something that’s coherent and understandable, which in the end they still failed to do.”

The controversy has reignited Trump’s long-standing feud with the media, with the president accusing outlets like CBS and award bodies like the Emmys of left-leaning bias and political interference. Online reactions were swift and divided, with supporters echoing Trump’s outrage and critics accusing him of undermining journalism.

One user commented, “Revoke their license, this isn’t reportage, this is propaganda,” while another fired back, “To be honest, I trust CNN more than Trump and his administration. Every day, I find lies in Trump’s talks and messages.” The incident adds fuel to the ongoing debate over media integrity and the influence of politics in entertainment awards.
