Whoopi Goldberg Explodes on ‘The View’ Over Trump’s ‘Alarming’ Constitution Blunder

In a fiery moment on Monday’s episode of The View, moderator Whoopi Goldberg took aim at President Donald Trump, questioning his understanding of a fundamental responsibility of the presidency — upholding the U.S. Constitution.

The discussion was sparked by Trump’s recent appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, where he was questioned about his stance on mass deportation and due process. According to The Associated Press, Trump appeared unfamiliar with the constitutional mandate to respect the due process rights of all individuals — a requirement embedded in the very foundation of American law.

Following the airing of a clip from the interview, Goldberg’s frustration was palpable as she addressed the audience and her fellow panelists. She pointedly reminded viewers that Trump has already taken the presidential oath of office twice, an oath which includes the promise to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

“So I don’t know why you don’t remember it, because we saw you say it,” Goldberg said, visibly exasperated. “This isn’t AI you. That was you, two times.” The Emmy-winning host didn’t stop there. In a direct rebuke, Goldberg asserted that any leader who fails to understand or respect the Constitution should not be in office.

She accused Trump of manipulating public perception, saying he treats the American people “like the idiots” in this narrative. “You know the job — and yes, you know you’re violating your oath of office by doing that,” she continued. Her final question to the group, delivered with a mix of disbelief and sarcasm, resonated across social media: “Or am I crazy?”

Co-host Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, quickly reassured Goldberg, replying, “No, you’re not.” Hostin then spoke about her own experience with taking the oath during her time in government. “I took the oath to uphold the Constitution… When you say those words, it feels heavy. It feels really,” she said, pausing with emotion.

She reflected further, adding that the seriousness of the commitment prompted her to revisit her law school studies of the Constitution. “It’s a very important thing,” she affirmed. The exchange highlighted growing concerns among critics about Trump’s grasp — or disregard — of constitutional responsibilities as he eyes another presidential run. As political debates intensify heading into election season, moments like these on The View continue to stir national conversations.
