A lot’s happened in the past six months so you’d be forgiven for forgetting about the reported feud between Fast and Furious 8 co-stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
During the high-octane sequel’s production last summer, Johnson lashed out at unnamed male co-stars branding some of them “candy asses,” with TMZ later reporting that franchise stalwart Diesel was the target of Johnson’s words.
Universal later insisted the two had buried the hatchet, however, it seems tensions are simmering now the film’s press tour has rolled around – something the studio is downplaying. Despite this, an insider told The Hollywood Reporter: “They’re keeping them separated as much as possible.” Following the initial issue, a studio source stated: “What happened is over, and no one expects there to be any lingering effects. When it comes time to promote the movie, this will have no bearing.” However, Johnson – who was in Las Vegas for CinemaCon on Monday and Tuesday (27/28 March) promoting both Jumanji and Baywatch – made himself scarce for the Fast & Furious 8 presentation yesterday (30 March).
Hes now back on the set of HBO series Ballers in Miami. Fast and Furious 8 is directed by F. Gary Gray and sees Diesel and Dwayne Johnson reunite alongside Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham. Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren have been added to the cast. The film will be released in UK cinemas on 14 April.
