Prince William is reportedly losing trust in Princess Beatrice after King Charles decided to bring her back into public royal duties despite the ongoing controversy surrounding her father, Prince Andrew. The move has caused tension inside the royal family, according to a new report.
King Charles recently approved Beatrice’s new patronage with the Outward Bound Trust and sent her on a hospital visit in London, marking her first major solo engagement in several years. The decision signals a visible return to royal responsibilities for the princess.
Radar Online reports that William strongly opposed the move, believing Beatrice’s increased public role could damage the monarchy’s reputation. The concern stems from the fallout surrounding Prince Andrew, who lost his military titles and royal patronages and was ordered to vacate the Royal Lodge because of his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to a Substack post by Rob Shuter, a palace insider claims William was blindsided by Charles’ decision. The source described the king’s actions as an effort to project family unity and offer a path to redemption for the York branch of the family. William, however, reportedly saw it as premature and risky.
The insider said William wanted the Yorks to remain “out of sight” until after Charles’ next health review. “William wanted the Yorks out of sight until after the King’s next health review,” the source explained. “But His Majesty insisted – he thinks the family needs to heal in public.”
The insider added that William views the situation through a more pragmatic lens. “William’s pragmatic. He knows the Yorks are poison with the public. His father just won’t see it,” they said. The tension, they noted, reflects a deeper disagreement about how the monarchy should respond to scandal.

While William remains focused on protecting the monarchy’s public standing, the king appears more interested in promoting reconciliation within the family. “Charles thinks the family must show unity in front of the country – but William thinks optics and timing matter,” the insider added.
The reported dispute highlights a growing contrast between the king’s emphasis on healing and William’s insistence on safeguarding the institution from reputational harm. As Beatrice steps back into the spotlight, the differing strategies between father and son may continue to shape the royal family’s next chapter.
