According to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail, the move represents a symbolic and emotional reset for the Prince and Princess of Wales. “Every part of Adelaide Cottage, sadly, had an unpleasant memory associated with it,” the insider said.
“It’s a lovely house and they started with such high hopes, but in the end they have experienced some of their most challenging times there as a family… Little wonder that William feels like it was cursed.” The couple’s decision to relocate comes after months of speculation about their living arrangements and growing concerns over privacy at Adelaide Cottage.
The Windsor-based home, which they moved into with their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—in 2022, was initially seen as an ideal family residence close to both Windsor Castle and Kate’s parents in Berkshire.
However, sources suggest the home became linked to a series of stressful and emotional experiences, prompting the pair to embrace a fresh environment. The Duke of York, who currently resides at the nearby Royal Lodge, has reportedly been asked to vacate the property amid efforts to streamline royal finances.
